Relaxed & Laidback Summer Wedding at Wrights Anglers Rest

Meet Claire and Gary. Our Dublin couple got married in the summer at Anglers Rest with their nearest and dearest in attendance, followed by a big party in the evening.

‘Gary and I got engaged at a music event in an ancient collesseun while on holiday in France. We’re both huge into music and this was my ideal engagement. We met some other Irish people at the event who filmed the engagement for us. We met them just before the event. Apart from them we’d met no other Dubs so we were blessed to have someone who could film.’

The couple got married on a warm Summer’s day in August. They had an intimate ceremony in the gorgeous Angler’s Rest, followed by a party with additional guests in the evening.

Claire wore a slim fitting white wedding dress with a floral lace pattern and mid length veil with a floral hem. Gary wore a black tux with a Cumber-band and black dickie bow. Their wedding party chose all their own outfits to keep with the relaxed lowkey wedding.

‘Marie Bardon was the celebrant, she brought great positive energy to the day. The Ceremony was full of laughter and good vibes. There was many tears but all tears were laughed through. Jokes were made yet it was serious when needed to be, including when a remembrance candle was lit for Gary’s brother and Nanny. My entrance song was Heaven Is A Place On Earth by Grace George, a beautiful instrumental piece. There was one short reading made by my nieces which again garnered a lot of laughs as it talked about sticking together even if the partner left clothing around the house and forgot to put the toilet seat down.’

‘The Anglers Rest was an amazing venue. We chose it because it was close to our homes and it had that low-key vibe we wanted. It also allowed us to have a small ceremony followed by a bigger party which is what we wanted. We only decided to book the wedding in late December 2024 and booked the wedding for August 2025.’

Feedback on photographer:

‘Our photographer was amazing from start to finish. She got all of the photos that we wanted really easily. She listened to what we did and (did not want). We did not have to take endless takes of photos to get the right shot. Laura managed to take one photo and it would be perfect. We also got photos with everyone at the wedding in a really fun and timely matter. We did not spend hours and hours taking photos again and again, she was really quick to get our sneak peek ready and then our own photos soon followed. We were delighted with the quality of the photographs and the presentation of the photographs as well. We got a gorgeous wedding box with everything we asked for and more. As the bride I organised for another couple to get engaged at the wedding (unconventional I know) but I wanted to share my day with my best friends. I approached Laura and told her this. I asked her to take photographs of the engagement. She did without hesitation and no extra charge. She also sent the couples photos to them the next day which they were absolutely delighted with. This was such a nice touch. We got some photos taken in the Phoenix park at farmleigh. It was a gorgeous day for it. We also got beautiful photos straight after the ceremony with all the kids (while they were clean) again this was another request we made and Laura obliged.’

Clare’s Favourite Memory:

‘The ceremony itself was my favourite part as it was our nearest and dearest and it was just full of joy. I also really enjoyed getting ready in my parents house. We had a great morning!’

Advice for other couples:

‘We weren’t stressed over small details and it made for a very enjoyable day. People won’t remember the details but they’ll remember the vibe.’
